CREATIVE WEEK

MAY 13 – 17

NEW YORK CITY

A CELEBRATION OF DIVERSE CREATIVITY

The One Club champions the global creative community through the calendar year, but its efforts culminate with the celebration of Creative Week, which takes place every May in New York City.

By day, Creative Week features a handful of sessions, workshops, and reviews, designed to foster discussion, reflection, and connection in the advertising and design industries. By night, Creative Week rolls out the red carpet as it recognizes the very best work of the past year by way of three internationally acclaimed award shows: the lauding of “big ideas” at The One Show 2024; the celebration of design and craftsmanship at the ADC 103rd Annual Awards; a showcase of typographic perfection at the Type Directors Club’s 70 Annual Competition Exhibition; and the salute to the next generation of talent at the Young Ones Student Awards.

Whether you’re just starting your journey as a young creative or you’re picking up another Gold Pencil or Cube in your long advertising career, Creative Week has something for you.

YOUNG ONES

Student Awards 2024

For countless young creatives, winning a One Show Pencil, an ADC Cube, or immortality in the TDC Annual is a dream come true. But dreams have to start somewhere, and for that, we have the Young Ones Student Awards. This competition challenges college, graduate, and portfolio school students to put their best foot forward in hopes of winning one of the first honors of their burgeoning careers.

Young Ones is a little more rock ‘n roll than the other Creative Week evenings, so it’s only fitting that it all takes place in the party-like atmosphere of New York’s Sony Hall.

On Tuesday, May 14, we’ll be hosting not one but two in-person portfolio review sessions at LOCATION05 in Hudson Yards. This is a stellar opportunity for up-and-coming talent to get in front of creatives and recruiters from numerous top agencies and brands. You’ll get much-needed feedback, make connections, and maybe even land an internship or a job!

Can’t make it to New York? Not to worry! We’ll be going virtual with an online portfolio review on Wednesday, May 15, allowing you to show the world what you’ve got, no matter where in the world you are!

TDC LETTERING WALK

New York is one of the most fascinating cities in the world, and a casual stroll through any of its famous locales is sure to be a typographic journey, by way of its architecture and signage.

On Thursday, May 16, slip into some comfortable shoes and join us as designer, calligrapher, and historian Paul Shaw returns to lead us on one of his renowned TDC Lettering Walks. This year, we will be headed down the spine of Manhattan, along Broadway from City Hall all the way to the Battery! Along the way we will check out sites such as the Sun Building, St. Paul's Chapel, Trinity Church, the New York Stock Exchange, the American Stock Exchange, the Brooklyn/Battery Tunnel, the Cunard Building, and the Municipal Ferry Terminal. For those so inclined, we’ll even hop aboard the Staten Island Ferry for lunch in the neighborhood of St. George, where a breathtaking view of Manhattan is always on the menu.

EXECUTIVE CREATIVE SUMMIT

Refreshing perspectives on creative leadership

The Executive Creative Summit returns in-person to New York for the first time since 2019, and whoa, what a difference five years can make to our industry! A global pandemic, diversity going under the microscope, the birth of  WFH culture, the physical downsizing of office space, the rise of AI — it’s enough to burden anybody!

That's why the Executive Creative Summit aims to bring together decision-makers in our community for support and inspiration. Making beautiful and smart creative work is a challenge unto itself, but add to that the concerns of keeping clients happy, staff inspired, business growing, revenues in check, and the lights, well, on, and the life of a C-suite executive, agency founder or partner can be complicated and even isolating.

WE'RE ALL MAD HERE

Chris Sojka
Co-Founder & CCO Madwell

The "mad" in "Madwell" is no accident. It's a clarion call to outsiders, misfits, and wild rotini shaped souls tired of living in a square peg world. We've always believed in bringing your whole self to work and using your whole brain, whatever that looks like. A few years ago this approach to working became known as accepting "neurodiversity," an understanding that our gray matter, our internal worlds, differ just as much as our physical bodies or external worlds. The incredible thing is that all those little differences add up to reams of creativity and heaps of business potential. If you know how to navigate them.
